Left Arm and Hand
I have completed a new severity assessment this morning. For a couple of days now I have been struggling with severe pain, firstly in my left forearm and again in my left hand, mainly the lower quadrant, below the thumb. Pain is continuous, and, as previously, is completely untouched by co-codamol. Looking back on past episodes, I'm wondering if a steroid injection to the wrist would be helpful. However, I do need help please as a matter of urgency, my independence being threatened by my inability to use my hands normally. Many thanks for your consideration. Regards, David.
Thanks Jeremy - my pains have indeed improved quite dramatically and I don't think I need to bother you further at this point. Perhaps though, as time and resources allow, I might be able to seek a re-assessment of my limb/hand/fingers pain/tingling/stiffness conditions, since these do cause my troubles consistently at a lowish level and real distress at times, and yet I still do not really know what exactly is the cause, especially given that, as you say, what I describe is not typically CTS-driven?
These short-lived episodes of severe pain are certainly not typical of CTS. We haven't checked the CTS for a couple of years so when there's a convenient period for you just fill in a new severity questionnaire here on the website and drop me an email and we'll re-test it to see how it's getting on. We're booking routine appointments about 2 weeks ahead at present. JB
Is this one the same as the episode of pain which you had back in 2016? That one cleared up spontaneousy and I don't think we were ever quite sure what it was, though we did give you an injection for the CTS just as it was improving because you still had some CTS symptoms. Those current symptoms don't sound very typical of CTS but we could probably take a quick look at you first thing Monday morning if you are available. JB
