First Appointment 3/4 weeks away

I visited my GP on the 5th October after 2 weeks of waking with numbness 2/3 times a night in my thumb and next two fingers. I have tried dangling my arm out of the bed but I still wake 2/3 times a night. Is there anything else I could try to get a reasonable nights sleep.

The only thing which can easily be accessed without medical assistance is a splint - details on here in the treatments section. You can source these yourself once you know what you are looking for. Sorry about the delay in replying - we had some intereference with the site by hackers and were not able to respond for 48 hours or so. JB

Dear Dr Bland
Following your reply I have purchased a splint and used it for the first time last night. It was the first night for several weeks that I have slept right through without the usual numbness. Thank you. I have tonight completed the questionnaire although it is still three weeks before my appointment.

Regards Ian

Glad to hear it's helping and I hope you did not have to pay too much. We get them in bulk for about £3-50 each but the high street retail price seems to be £16-£20. See you in a few weeks (sorry about the waiting list - too many people with suspected CTS!) JB
