Return of symptoms following second injection
Dear Dr. Bland, Just to remind, I had a wrist operation in 1983 on the left hand, a year after the birth of my third child, and so far it has remained symptom free. I find my symptoms have returned since the second injection in my right hand in September. After the injection, although there was almost instant relief from the pain, there was intermittent numbness for about 10 days, after which things settled. Occasionally I would get numbness from e.g. holding up my arm (yoga!), and something like knitting but, mostly I was clear ish for about a month or so. It is quite severe now, as in the summer, with the added twanging nerve sensation when I use a grip involving the ring and middle finger. I am using the wrist support at night and this helps most of the time. Please would you be able to advise when you have time? Yours sincerely, Jenny
I understand about the frequency of injections. If it is possible, yes please, I'll go for surgery . If the 15th is available that would be great. Thank you for responding so quickly.
I apologise for posting on the wrong thread, the link to post has only just come up it sent me straight through to this one, possibly because today, I actually signed in using my password!
I've checked the diary today and we do indeed have a space for surgery on 15th December in Herne Bay. I'll book you into that in the morning and send you the dates and times. JB
It's booked - we should be calling you with the time and address to head for. JB
Thanks for everything Dr. Bland - phone call came through . Now have to organise the feeding of the christmas five thousand with one hand. Happy Christmas
It sounds as though we may be heading for surgery on the right side too. You are in the perfect position to make your own mind up about how to proceed with treatment as you have personal experience of both main options. I can arrange surgery for you when you decide that it is appropriate (I think we have one space for surgery on 15 December at present but I'm not sure until I check the bookings later today). We can also re-inject for you as necessary though I start to get uneasy if injections are averaging more than once every 6 months.
I will also move this thread to the Canterbury patients forum in a day or two. JB
