Wrist splint

I have been wearing the wrist splint since I see you on the 10 December. I still wake up during the night and the pain and tingling is more severe now. Instead of the middle and ring finger being the main ones that hurt, the pain now includes the thumb and index finger. I also find it takes longer for the pain to ease in the morning to enable me to do things. I am going to try the next few nights without the splint to see if there is a differance.

That's beginning to sound as though the problem may not be CTS. We should probably test it once more and check the ultrasound to see if any abnormality is appearing. I'll find a time to do that in January. JB

Hi, symptoms have been returning gradually since July, but are now alot worse. Was wondering whether another steroid injection would be a good idea.

It responded very well to injection last time so one could certainly try again. Results of second injections are comparable to those of first, sometimes better, sometimes worse, and just as unpredictable. As 10 months have passed since I last saw you I would be inclined to check the NCS and ultrasound again to make sure there has not been a major deterioration - if it was much worse I would be more inclined to go for surgery. I'll send out another appointment. JB
