Forthcoming operation
Hello Dr Bland
I had the pre-op on 15th December for my surgery this coming Saturday 12th Jan with Dr Rine. As you will know I have been having problems with both of my hands but as both hands were symptom free at pre-op time following injections we decided to operate on the right hand. However symptoms have now returned in my left hand despite having had a fairly recent injection, the third in that hand. The right hand has only had 2 injections so far. Would it therefore be better for me to have the left hand operated on this time? My thinking is that perhaps it is not good to have another injection in my left hand so soon after the latest one whereas it is some time since the right was injected so if the symptoms return there I could have another injection to keep me going until surgery is possible for that hand. Please advise! Thank you very much. Lindsay.
Thank you for your prompt reply. Do I need to forewarn Dr Rine? If so do you know which is the best way to contact him?
Many thanks
I'll speak to him this afternoon - I doubt if he needs any other warning - preparations are identical for surgery on either side. JB
Thank you very much for your help with this. No doubt I will see you again when the symptoms return in my other hand!
It seems to make more sense to operate on the symptomatic one so I would probably do the left side. JB
