Right Post surgery 1 month & Left 7 weeks injection
The injection has helped my left hand although a few twinges in thumb but I think that is from overuse as inability to use right hand.
Right hand surgery a month ago. It has been so painful. The incision always felt very tight, once stitches dissolved it pulled apart and it still feels tight. Where the scar is it feels like it is constantly being cut. I have no strength or grip in my hand and 3 fingers and thumb are still numb. My hand feels like it just wants to curl up because of the tightness. Painkillers don't take away the pain. I contacted my GP two weeks ago because of pain and swelling and was told that it was to be expected. I really didn't expect to still have this sharp stabbing pain. Please can I have some advice?
Hi Jeremy,
Thankyou for your response. My surgery was done at estuary view by Jeremy Stanton. There was no follow up appointment and I was discharged.
My wrist is very sore and I still have the sandpaper sensation in my fingers and thumb. I get occasional shooting pains and some pins and needles but not as much. It's my wrist and thumb that hurt and I find it hard to write or grip anything.KD
Are you free on Wednesday morning this week - we might take a look at it then? JB
OK, Ideally could you drop in between 8:30 and 9:00 am? I can cope with later but it's quieter then. JB
Sorry about the slow response. I was at a conference Friday and the site has also been bombarded with spam which I have had to delete. I guess the first question is who did the surgery and have they discharged you. Some of these operations are followed by considerable pain which can go on for months, and occasionally become a permanent problem but it's not exactly 'expected' - most patients are actually pretty much back to normal by 2-3 weeks after surgery. If we can trace who the surgeon is I will have a word with them and it's possible I may need to see you to look at the hand. What has happened to the original CTS symptoms - any change? JB
