Re-testing 5/2/13

I was tested last year and found to be grade 1 in both hands. I received steroid injections in April 2012, which (once I'd got over the pain and shock, I'm not good with injections.....bit of a baby if I'm honest) were wonderful. I could take lids off jars and even started baking bread, with no difficulty kneading. In October, I started noticing that I couldn't move my hands as well. My joints were hurting and I must admit, I tried to ignore what was happening, putting the pain down to arthritis, (although my GP says, after blood tests, that I don't have arthritis of any type) By November, I could no longer do floor exercises in Pilates as I'm now unable to bend my wrists to put my hands flat on the floor because of the pain. As I type this, my fingers are fizzing like crazy and don't want to bend. Once again, I have had to wrench my rings off as my knuckles have swollen (my doctor disagrees even though I have shown that I can't get the rings back over the knuckles) I don't have the extreme numbness that I had before, but pain wakes me up and is a constant with every movement that I make. Cooking has become a problem as I'm prone to dropping things and chopping is agony. I persevere as I have to, but life is becoming a bit of a misery again.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday and maybe getting some more suggestions as to how to help myself cope a little better.

I think I need to see those hands- there may be a bit more to that than just CTS (and blood tests cannot exclude 'arthritis of any type') JB

Very good I'll see you then. You are however a different patient to the person who started this particular discussion thread - hence the non-sequitur in timing if you read down the discussion from the start. JB
