Request for operation after consultation
Hi Dr Bland
After my consultation and injections yesterday I have decided to go ahead with the operation on my right hand.
is it possible to be put on the list please? And is it possible to have the procedure done at QEQM?
Thanks
Sacha
It's now been a week since my injections and appointment and there's not really any change. My right hand is still painful and the numbeness/pins and needles is on and off all day.
I have been wearing my splints at night and my left hand is fine, my right hand has been so bad still that i have been trying to wear the splint during that day at work but this is hard as I work on a computer all day.
I have been taking Ibruprofen for the pain too.

Hi Dr Bland,
sorry to bother you again but as yet have not heard regarding a date for the operation. My employer is asking if I have had a date as they need to sort out cover in my absence. i did tell them 8-10 weeks.
My right hand is still very painful and wondered is it worth having another injection before my operation?
SK
It's probably a bit early to be expecting contact from the QEQM - it's not like my system for booking surgery in primary care. If you want to drop in to the CTS clinic on Thursday morning we could consider a further dose of steroids but it's only a couple of weeks since the last one. JB
Hi,
I saw you way back in 2013 and had surgery at QEQM on my right hand which was fantastic.
Over the last few years my left hand has got quite bad. Regular numbness and night and on an led off during the day I’ve also started having problems gripping and writing as I and left handed.
Is there anyway I can come to see you at clinic or should I go to GP in the first instance?
SK
You can come straight to us. I'll send out an appointment tomorrow. We're quite heavily booked at present so it may be a few weeks. JB
I see the surname has changed - is the address still the same for me to send an appointment to? JB
I can add you to the waiting list at QEQM but I would wait a week to find out how effective the injection is this time before committing to that -- we are always rather wary of operating on asymptomatic patients and it is possible that you may be just that at the point a surgical appointment would come through.
