Surgery
After my testing the other day, I think surgery would be the sensible way to go considering the severity on the right hand, my only concern is that the appointments are a long way off, which concerns me regarding the possible deterioration between now and then, and also enduring the pain and problems it is causing.
Are there ever any cancellation appointments that become available on short notice? Or would it be worth having an injection in the meantime?
Kind regards,
Vicky
Thursday would be great, thanks very much. What time should I come in?
Vicky
About 8:50am is best but anytime up to 11:30 or so will do. You may have to hang about a bit - the Thursday morning CTS clinic can be a bit manic. I've been doing a telephone follow-up clinic most of today and I've filled the 4th May surgery list too - onto the 11th now - though there may be a cancellation for 23rd March too looking at this evening's email. Will be with you for 0850, thanks very much. Will see how injection goes first, if I have some improvement I will book surgery for a time when my husband can take care of my son. If not I will have to go for the first available surgery!
See you on Thursday.
Vicky
Would it be possible to inject both hands when I am at the clinic tomorrow morning? Over the past few days the numbness has been more of a problem.
Kind regards,
Vicky
Injecting both is no problem but it's probably a good idea to make sure that someone else can drive you home afterwards just in case of the rare event of problems immdiately after injection. It looks as though we do have a couple of early surgery appointments at present so we can talk about that tomorrow morning. JB
Yes to both questions I think. One of the reasons that we have a bit of a wait for surgery at present is bcause one of our GP surgeons who does them is off sick and the pressure on the waiting list means that we get relatively few cancellations but when I do have a short notice cancellation I usually 'advertise' it on the announcements page here so keep an eye on that if you are able to drop everything and have surgery at short notice.
We inject quite a few people who have ended up with moderate to long waits for surgery. Occasionally this leaves us with the interesting quandary of whether to operate on an asymptomatic patient but we can worry about that if it happens. If you want a quick injection we can do it for you on Thursday. The earliest surgery date at present looks like 4th May.
