Post Injection Update

It is a week ago that I had injections in both hands, just to update you on my progress:
The injection in the left (level 1) was painless and I had no pain afterwards.
The injection in the right (level 5) was quite painful and I had quite severe pain for the first 24hrs, this reduced dramatically, and by 48hrs was back to normal.
I feel that there has been a slight improvement in the joint pains I was having in both hands.
The tingling in both hands still feels the same, as does the numbness in my right thumb and first 3 fingers.
I will update again next week.

Kind regards,
Vicky

This was quite a bad CTS on the right and the success rate with injection is definitely not as good for grade 5 but I think we have surgery scheduled do we not? JB

An update and a question!
A month on from injections and I feel that the tingling in both hands is greatly reduced. My right thumb and first two fingers are still quite numb and I still fumble around with buttons and poppers with my right hand.
My question is regarding the injection - can this cause prolonged menstrual periods? I am taking the mini pill and so normally have no periods to speak of. However, I have now been having a period for 15 days. I would be interested if you have come across this before.
Thanks,
Vicky

You might perhaps get minor disturbance to periods for a few days after injection and I have one other patient who commented on a little post-menopausal bleeding immediately following injection but by this stage a month later there should be no effect at all so I would be looking for other causes. To update you on my symptoms after injections in both hands at the beginning of March (approx 10 weeks ago).

Over the last few days the pain and tingling at night has returned quite severely in my right hand, when I wake in the morning my right hand is now totally numb.

The pain in my left hand has also retuned, however this is very different to my right - I was level 1 in the left when you tested me, but the pain I have in my left now is more of a searing pain when I try to touch the tip of my thumb with the tip of my little finger. The hand is also very weak when carrying a tray for example. So I'm not sure if this is Carpel Tunnel or maybe something more arthritic?

I have surgery booked in June on the right.
Kind regards,
Vicky

It does sound as though the left hand may be a different problem at first hearing. It might be worth reviewing the situation once the right hand has been done. JB
