Mum has asked me to report severe pain in left hand which has been particularly bad today from 5 o'clock in the morning
Thumb , index and middle finger are all affected and have been for the last few weeks.
Would it be possible to have an injection ( I can't remember if/when she has had one for the left hand ) but she is also keen to have the operation in the light of the success with the right hand
I should have mentioned this 2 weeks ago when she first told me but just never got round to it- apologies

It's almost a year since we last saw her so we had better take another look at it. I'll see what spaces I can find in the diary in the morning. JB

I think the best I can do with this is to see her before next Thursday morning's CTS clinic - can you manage to get here about 8:30am. JB

update following injection in left hand Thursday 28th March 2013

12 hours later no change to hand - no swelling or bruising either

24 hours - night passed without too much discomfort. one episode of awakening but only tingling and not such severe pain that necessitated massaging etc . so that is an improvement.

Warfarin level checked yesterday at 2.1

Interesting that we have had any impact given how bad it was. Thanks for the update. JB

Pain in the night has subsided but thumb index and middle finger continue to tingle and be numb , seemingly all the time . I noticed yesterday that although the hand moves fairly easily the loss of sensation is problematical for carrying items , lifting cups etc.
using the right hand for ester eggs so not all bad news !

I think that is pretty much what one might guess the result would be for grade 6. The same kind of result can be expected from surgery - essentially symptoms which reflect loss of function in the nerve, numbness, weakness and muscle wasting, generally tend to recover less well and slowly if at all. However, if it is more comfortable that is a fairly major issue resolved and I think in those circumstances it is probably worth going ahead with the operation. JB

Mum reported last night elecrtric shock sensations briefly in the middle finger of the left hand but still better through the night.

Will await news of operation date .

Thank you
