GANGLIONS

Out of interest, does anyone know if there is a relationship between ganglions on the back of the hand (not wrist) and CTS? I've recently noticed what I guess are large ganglions and wonder if this causes the CTS.

Not as far as I know. Occasionally a ganglion near the carpal tunnel can extend into it and cause a problem but the back of the hand is well away from the carpal tunnel. Of course the first question should be - are they ganglion cysts? JB

Thank you for your comments. I think I was trying to find a logical reason why I've got CTS again (for the third time!!).

Some people are born with an inbuilt tendency to get CTS I think - various factors can then trigger episodes. You can geti it to resolve by non-surgical means a lot of the time but the underlying predisposition remains. JB
