Natural numbness remedies?

My friend has recently developed numbness and tingling in his first two fingers after his thumb, and was diagnosed with carpal tunnel. Does anyone have any natural remedies for relieving the numbness without surgery? He really does not want surgery, and we're exploring less invasive ways to get relief. Acupuncture? Massage? Any thoughts appreciated.
The treatment pages of this site tell you all the things that are either known to work for CTS or where it has been suggested that that they might work, including 'natural' remedies, or at least all the ones that have come to my attention. By far the simplest non-surgical measure to try to begin with is just a wrist splint, worn at night. JB
