I think that pain running up the thumb is a different problem to the CTS. Overall is it sufficiently improved that we do not need to treat further at present or do I need to get something done about the thumb? JB

I did wonder whether that might be a bit of de Quervain's tenosynovitis. Can you drop in on Thursday so that we can take a quick look at it? JB

It's possible that Mr Nicholas might be able to take a look at it that week but I will be lecturing elsewhere. We will discuss it tomorrow morning and see what we think the best way of dealing with it is. JB

I think we can manage that - if it's still a problem then of course - that is 4 weeks away. JB

Hi dr bland since the injection in my wrist I have had a constant pain between my shoulders and the base of my neck I wonder whether this is connected to my wrist problems

I think it's quite hard to tie in an injection at the wrist with a pain in that particular site and although CTS pain can radiate up the arm as far as the neck sometimes, pain at the top of the arm usually occurs in conjunction with the hand symptoms, not in isolation. My guess would therefore be that it is unrelated to the wrist. JB
