Post surgery numbness
24 October 2024 - 5:41pm
Good evening,
I had a steroid injection in my left hand on the 11th September with no changes in quite problematic symptoms.
I had surgery on my left wrist on the 12th October.
I appreciate it is early days but as of yet i have noted no improvements. I am still totally numb in my middle finger and some noted numbness in my index finger and thumb. Wrist is still quite sore post surgery.
Is this quite normal? and i'm just a bit impatient?
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response.
Kind regards
Mr Jason Moat

From grade 5 recovery can be quite slow, especially in numbness and weakness as opposed to pain and tingling so yes this is quite early. It's a good idea to track symptom changes by doing a new severity score on the website every few weeks so that you can see the trend, if there is one. If the operated side feels no better at all about 6-8 weeks after surgery we may have to check it. JB
