Hi! I had endoscopic CTR completed on both hands. My RH was completed on 3/5/25 and my LH on 3/18/25. I am concerned that now I have constant numbness in my ring finger, half of my middle finger and into the palm as well in the RH. I also am not able to close my fingers when my hand is extended on the RH I did not have any of these issues prior to endoscopic release. My LH was done after my RH and I have had no issues with numbness or operating my fingers. I brought the concerns up about my RH to my surgeon prior to having my LH done and she basically dismissed my concerns saying that it can take up to a year to regain feeling, which I would understand if it was this bad prior to surgery. I did have a nerve conduction test completed prior to surgery along with X-rays. Should I be concerned and press to have this addressed? I have an appointment on 4/1/25 to have the stitches removed on my LH. Are there any specific questions I should ask during this appointment? I appreciate any help or insight you could provide.

It is possible to injure the palmar branches of the median nerve during endoscopic surgery and that can produce quite limited areas of sensory loss like this. Careful follow-up nerve condcution studies compared with the pre-operative set can sometimes establishe what has happened and ultrasound imaging is also sometimes useful if you have someone who is very expert in doing nerve ultrasound available. I presume you are not in my catchment area as no-one around here does endoscopic surgery. JB

Thank you so much for responding! Unfortunately I am located in the US near Lake Erie. If what you described above is the case, will I ever regain feeling and full range of use? I am only 36 and I am really hoping to gain full functionality again. Should I ask specifically for those to be completed if not offered?
