I can book you a slot for surgery in August with the same surgeon who did the right hand for you. If you would like it injecting again in the meantime we can also do that - just let me know JB

I have provisionally booked you an August slot for surgery. A letter with the details will go out in tomorrow's post. When it arrives I am afraid you will need to call the SIPC office so that they can offer you a choice of going somwhere else but you can just tell them you would prefer to see Dr Rine again. I'm also going to schedule a repeat set of tests before surgery so that we have an up-to-date record before anyone operates. JB

id like to ask a question if i may, when i woke last night i could not bend my fingers they were so stiff a painful is this typical of cts ?? i cant remember last night this happened if it dd or not

That's not really typical of CTS no, although the range of terms people use to describe what are presumably subjectively similar symptoms is one of the endlessly fascinating things about medicine - you never know quite what someone else is experiencing however good they are at describing it. I think the key thing here is that flexion of the fingers - the movement involved in grip - is powered by the forearm muscles which are not involved in CTS. You could cut the median nerve in the carpal tunnel and the patient would still be able to bend the fingers to grip as long as the joints were flexible. JB
