Injection Pain

Hi there
I had my first injections yesterday morning which was not as painful as I thought. But last night I started to experience some significant pain mostly in my left wrist/hand. Almost feels like bad bruising. I took painkillers but they didn't really help. I had a reasonably comfortable night with the splints on which was great. But this morning I cannot use my left hand at all! I am in some significant pain and cannot straighten/extend my fingers or grip anything. My wrist is sore to touch too. My right hand is not so bad hense I can type using a couple of fingers, but dressing/washing etc was unbearable! is this a normal reaction and will it ease off? It is difficult to tell yet if my CTS symptoms have eased as of yet.
I have had to take today off sick as I can't drive or do my desk job.
If you could get back to me that would be great.
Thanks
Michelle

A few patients do get this sort of reaction though thankfully it seems to be fairly rare after injection for CTS. It usually settles over a few days. Rest it over the weekend, keep it elevated when you can, and let me know how it is doing on Sunday please. JB

Hi
Just to give you an update... Saturday morning my hands were some what better. Although I did have a large lump on the top of my wrist more on the bottom of my palm. I still had restricted movement more in my right hand but my left was vertually back to normal. Every now and then I would forget and then go to lift something heavy and then get some pain. My hands are not quiet back to thier normal strenght yet.
This morning (Sunday) proved much better both hands are vertually back to normal and the lump has gone down.
For the 1st time in 15 years I did not get a 'dead' hand/arm in the night with pain to wake me up! It was amazing.....although I do still have slight tingling in the right hand (my worst.)
I am back to work tomorrow so that is when I will be able to feel if there are any changes as of yet.
Many thanks...I find this forum incredibly useful.

I'm glad it's improving. One makes these predictions that things will get better but you never feel quite comfortable until they actually do. JB
