Carpal-tunnel
Hi I had the test for the carpal tunnel and have got it ,I had the injection which helped so much now the symptoms have come back and it is getting me down as I am a carrier for my son ,I was sent a referral but I have now been told that I will have to repeat the test at the hospital is this right doctor.I have explained the situation on the phone to the lady and she has said she will scan my referral through to the department who deals with this please help Thankyou.

I think it would be wise to see me and get it tested again. Treating CTS with serial injections (from the second one onwards) is a method which has a very limited evidence base and it should be used with some caution. We need to be sure that the nerve is not deteriorating (I have not seen you for 8 months) and we also need a chance to talk over the uncertain risks associated with repeated steroid injections- those are the main reasons for doing it this way. I will try to schedule this for a clinic when we may be able to do the injection for you on the spot if that is the decision that we make. JB
