Update injections

I am writing on behalf of my mother who attended your clinic on the 22nd July 13. Since having the injections she has had excellent nights sleep and has not experienced any numbness night or day. The only symptom she has had is a slight tingling in the right wrist. She wishes me to thank you for your prompt treatment. One question I would have is if the symptoms get worse again can she contact you ( the clinic) or does she have to go back to her GP.

The best thing to do at present is to contact me on here as soon as it starts to deteriorate. The future arranegments for contracting for the running of the CTS clinic are uncertain at present with the changeover from the Primary Care Trust to the Clinical Commissioning Groups set up by the governments latest round of changes to the health service so I do not know what arrangements will be in the future but at least you can always talk to me on here as long as we manage to keep the website running. I am writing on behalf of my mother Mrs Pentecost to update her records. She has had three good months of pain free but the last two days symptoms are starting to return. She has to use her hands a lot as she has a walking frame and two flights of stairs to negotiate where she lives which require her to grip the hand rails to pull herself up the stairs, could this be the cause of the returning symptoms. Do I have to ring the office for an appointment to see you? Yours sincerely M.Deakin

I'll arrange another appointment with us - in fact we have a space in Thursday morning's clinic this week at 9:00am if you can make that (there's no chance to get an appointment letter to you for then so unless I see a reply to this message I will assume you have not seen it). One of the things that interests me at present is the issue of how aggressively it is worth treating relapsing CTS after injection - ie is it better to treat again at the earliest returning symptoms or to wait until it becomes more severe - no-one knows the answer. Mum is having pains in her fingers and deadness back in her hands again. She last see you in Nov last year so the relief has lasted longer this time but she would be grateful if you could fit her in at sometime soon. We are in Canterbury hospital tomorrow at 3.30pm for an eye appointment if an appointment is available before that time would be nice if not sometime next week if possible.

JP. Mum has not received an appointment time for the 14th April. I`m not sure whether you have her new address because she moved recently. New address:<deletedby JB> If its to late send letter you could let me know via this web site. Thank you M.Deakin (son).

We still had the old address so the appointment will have been sent there. I've updated it now in our records and generated a new appointment letter but the time is 15:00. I'll edit the new address out of your message as there's no need to advertise that to the public.JB

Hi JP since Mum had her operation on her right hand it has been very good, and the left hand since the last injection has been good but two weeks ago mum experienced numbness in both hands and both her feet at the same time at night.
I took her to the doctors who referred her to your department, we have an appointment for the 18th Nov at 10:0 am.
She also had blood tests which the doctor was happy with apart from her renal reading. I have completed a new severity test for mum which was difficult to do considering the symptom she has experienced recently.

Both hands and both feet is a bit of an odd symptom if it was a transient episode. We'll see what we make of it when we see her but it may not be something in my field. JB

Thank you for your comments, I quite understand that it may be related to some other problem.

Hi JB Just recently Mum has been experiencing some numbness at night and tingling in her fingers during the day in the left hand. She went to see the doctor on the 24/2/15 who said he would write to you and also wanted her to have a blood test to rule out any other cause. I did say I usually contact you by e-mail but he said he would still write. Would be grateful if you could make an appointment for her to see you, whether she requires more injections or having an operation on her left hand. Would prefer an early morning appointment if possible. Thank you M.Deakin (son).

Sounds as though we should have another think about whether to operate on the second hand. I'll organise an appointment so that we can discuss it. JB

Appointment organised for the week after next - letter in post. JB
