CTS surgery

Dear Dr Bland

Things are always complicated .... I was referred to a surgeon at St Saviours Hospital as I have a very painful left wrist. - I thought I had broken it! I have a ganglion cyst in my left wrist and a portion of a bone that needs to be shaved off and some soft tissue to be removed. This procedure is to be done under general anesthetic on the 16th of November 2013. Perhaps it would be best if Mr Oliver did the carpel operation at the same time? I don't think I would like to have two procedures in the space of two weeks. Please advise me.

Many thanks and kind regards
Lorna

It's hard to assess that without seeing you. I'm not terribly happy with the idea of two different people trying to do things to your wrist at more or less the same time so if you are being treated by one of the general orthopaedic surgeons I would not want to be treating you simultaneously. I will cancel the arrangements I have made and leave you to Mr Oliver but I would be curious to hear what happens. JB

Thank you so much for your comments and for cancelling the other appointment. I do hope that I've not caused you any inconvenience. I'm so nervous about the procedures .... I will ask Mr Oliver to please send you all the details after my operation. Kind regards, Lorna

Most of the orthopaedic surgeons do not forward copies of their letters and operation notes to me (the hand surgeons do) so I am probably dependent on you to let me know what happens. There's no inconvenience - plenty of other patients to fill the surgery slot. I hope it solves your problems. JB

Thanks so much! I'll be sure to let you know what happens. Fingers crossed that my left hand is then sorted :) Kind regards, Lorna
