Splints CTS

Following my appointment @17.00 on 30.12.13 @ K&C with Dr Bland. I was given splints for both hands. Wearing them that night as advised, after 2 hrs I had to remove them due to extreme levels of pins and needles, heat and pain. Is this normal? I hope feedback is helpful.
Not everyone gets on with splints but it is probably worth persevering for a few nights. They should be worn quite loosely or they can be too hot. They are in any case only a first-aid measure and I am assuming that you r surgeon will arrange more definitive treatment.
