Had surgery on left hand on 2oth December, still very painful and have noticed a lot of swelling in hand today, any ideas what it could be?

It's hard to judge a swelling without seeing it I'm afraid - has the right hand settled down further now as both hands were quite troublesome at the start of January? Are you due for a review with the hand surgery team about now? JB

Right hand getting better, still get pain and numbness in little finger and one next to it which I believe is connected to ulnar nerve in elbow. Saw mr Nichols a couple of weeks ago who said if no better by end of April then to get back in touch but the pain and swelling in left hand has got worse since I saw him.

OK - as Nick did the surgery I'll draw his attention to this as he should have an aopportunity to comment. One would hope that it would at least be improving rather than deteriorating at this point. JB

He has injured his hand so he's a bit pre-occupied but he did say he would try to give you a call. JB

Hi, if you are worried about it, phone Mr Smiths secretary at QEQM and ask her for an appointment in the elective clinic. Hopefully I will be back to work in the next few days, with or without my plaster cast! You may have to see another member of the team, either Mr Smith himself or his Registrar.
