Use of CTRAC after unsuccessful surgeries?
17 April 2014 - 1:41pm
I have had carpal tunnel release surgery on both hands, and after about 1 year and a half, it has come back. I would like to try the CTRAC, but I see on the FAQ that it says not to use after surgery. Why is that? At this point I am desperate to try anything that will help me.
I am pretty sure that the recommendation to not use it after surgery is just the manufactirer being cautious - it does come from the USA where medical litigation is rife. There is no quality evidence that the device is effective even before surgery and I am pretty sure there is no data at all on using it after surgery. 18 months is quite early for true recurrence of CTS - it is more usually 10-20 years after surgery - so I would suggest rethinking the diagnosis before doing anything else.
