I last had an injection to my wrist in May. This was very successful at the time but within the last 2 to 3 weeks the problem has returned to my left hand only. This has given me severe numbness and pain that is keeping me awake at night. I would be grateful if I could have another injection as soon as possible.
There's a space at 4:00pm this afternoon, nothing earlier I'm afraid. JB
OK See you then - the clinic has become a bit clogged with an extra urgent in-patient too so there may be a bit of hanging about but we'll get it all in somehow. JB
Hi Mr Bland , As update of symtems of carpel-tunnel injections as requested I am pleased to report that I have had no adverse effect since have the injection although last week whilst opening the door to my van with my index and middle fingers with door frozen I appear to have torn or strain something in my wrist that resulted in causing bruising to the inside of my wrist while this is now improving it still giving me problems and l hope it is nothing to do with carpel-tunnel problem that I have. Many thanks
That does superficially sound like overstretching something. Aa long as all the fingers are moving OK I would not be too concerned. JB
Thank you for the update. Since the injection do you feel that the symptoms in your left hand are worse, the same, slightly better, much better or cured? EK
Dear Dr Bland I wonder if it's possible that I could come for another injection. The pain has returned mainly in my right hand and is keeping awake most nights. I look forward to hearing from you. Steve Griggs
We can probably do something in the coming week. Emma should see this on Monday and be able to get in touch. JB
Dear Dr Bland I have recently had an injection to my right hand which is fine now but I'm having problems with my left hand. Would it be possible to come along for an injection for the left hand please ?
I'll have a look at the records tomorrow and post here again. It's a bit late to fire up the computers tonight but probably yes. JB
We could re-inject the left but it's getting to be quite a while since we last tested them so ideally I would like to repeat the NCS too. When could you make it into the department? JB
I'll try to fit you in as an extra on Thursday then. Details to follow tomorrow. JB
First thing in the morning Thursday (17th) if you can make that. I'll test you myself and I usually manage to get in about 8:30am so if we can do that before the main clinic list starts at 9:00 that would be good. JB
As requested my update for the injection in my right hand 6 weeks ago. Total success and no reaction at all. You may recall that I had an injection in my left hand for a fourth time last Thursday. It has worked well but the tip of my left thumb has a slight numbness although not affecting me.
Thanks for the follow-up - glad it's under control at present. As usual, just get in touch when there are problems. JB
Dear Mr Bland I last had my right hand injected in July and the symptoms have now returned. The pain and numbness is mainly at night and disturbing my sleep. I would be grateful if I could be considered to have another injection at your earliest convenience. Thanks very much. Steve Griggs
I can fit you in this afternoon (Monday) as an extra if you can make it - after 3 pm woould probably be best. I'll probably re-test it just to make sure it hasn't takena dramatic tiurn for the worse physiologically. JB
I'll put you in the diary at 3:30 but as it's an extra booking squeezed into the clinic you may have to hang about a bit. If you can manage to do an updated symptom severity questionnaire here on the web that would help too JB
Hi Mr Bland,
The same old problem with carpal tunnel this time in my left hand which is in line with the pattern of left right intervals.l think that this time it maybe the time for surgery.l hope that you can fit me in anytime soon as it is painful and affect my sleep.
Thank you very much
Steve Griggs
Many thanks I would be very grateful what time would you like me to be there
Letter should be in the post - I try not to put precise details of appointments on here unless it's very short notice and there is no other way - just in case some malefactor has managed to figure out who the patient is and we would be advertising when you would be out of the house - a bit paranoid but using a public forum in this way for interacting with patients is already treading a fine line with confidentiality rules. JB
Just to update on my carpal tunnel procedure carried out by Dr Rimmer at Reculver surgery on the 8 /6 /18 which has been a complete success and lam very grateful. It was done in the surgery which was a long way from where I live here in Tenterden but ease of parking and less daunting feel of hospital made it a more pleasurable experience. Two weeks after I had it done the stitches were removed by our local surgery The scar has healed nicely and my hand is back to normal so just to say thanks to Dr Rimmer and his team of ladies
I'm sure John will be happy to hear that. We'll check up on you by post at 3 months post-op. JB
Hi Mr Bland , having had surgery on my left hand in June I am now finding pain in left wrist an difficulty bending my fingers also if as I do tend to sleep with my hand above my head I am woken with severe numbness in my hand.Hopefully you will be able to see me at some point to recommend some sort of remedy or do you feel this is not connected.
Regards S.Griggs
Hard to analyse without seeing it I think so I'll send out an appointment. JB
Hi Emma at my last visit to see you in November I explained how I was suffering pain in my wrist causing me to have disruptive nights sleep.Unfortunatley it has not improved and you did suggest that you could recommend me to a hand specialist I hope that is still possible look forward to hearing from you.Kind regards Steve Griggs
The last thing Emma wrote in the records was that you would let us know if you needed a referral to the hand surgeons and there seems to be nothing dated later than that in the records so nothing has been done so far. We can make a referral tomorrow and it will probably take a few weeks to get an appointment. Is there any sign of the original CTS symptoms recurring or is it still mainly a painful wrist? JB
I have no effect at all with the CTS but I do suffer from .numbness in my hands particularly at night that keeps me awake.I have had the occasional pain in my wrist and little finger but with exercise that Emma gave me I can manage
I think we might have to see you again and have a direct conversation about the continuing symptoms as I'm not sure I'm getting a true impression. We might be able to do this in a phone call to save you traipsing over to Canterbury perhaps - is there a good time to call? JB
Sorry - I ended up doing two clinics during this afternoon because we had to send some staff to ITU. I'm occupied all day tomorrow out of the department but Emma may be able to call during the afternoon, or I will be back in on Wednesday. JB
Hi Dr Bland, it’s been some time since I have been in touch 11/3/19, after having had my left wrist dealt by yourselves and with
left wrist carpal tunnel procedure at Reculver surgery by Dr Rimmer. Unfortunately my right hand that has been mildly troublesome for quite some time has become as severe as I have experienced and has me awake for long periods at night with considerable pain.
I appreciate the current situation with the pandemic but would be grateful of an appointment at your earliest convenience.
Regards Steve Griggs
Can you add a new severity score to the website please and I'll add you to the list to be seen. JB
Hi Dr Bland as you requested I filled in the severity test form on the first of October I appreciate with the COVID implication as I have not heard from you am I still on list to be seen
Sorry! I think I was waiting for you to tell me that. I don't get notified automatically by the website - we can fit you in tomorrow at 8:30 am or Thursday at 8:00 am or there are currently quite a few appointments on the morning of Thursday 26th November. JB
We can probably do that this week - could you make Monday? JB
