It might not be too bad arranging surgery. Some people are declining surgery at present and CTS is one of the easier things for the surgeons to deal with during the COVID pandemic because it's a day-case procedure so the backlog is coming down a bit faster than expected. We would have to make enquiries. I'll take a look at the records this morning. In the meantime have you added a new severity score to the website here? JB
Your most recent NCS are not too old so if you want to drop in to see us on Thursday 10th September at about 9:00am - the man who would probably be doing your surgery will be with us then too and we can either re-inject or list you for surgery - or even both. JB
Hi. Thank you for the quick response.
It really took me by surprise.
I am looking forward to seeing you on Thursday.
Mario
Hi Dr.Bland
Had my latest injection on the 10th of September, always lasted a good 4 to 6 month but this time its wearing off rapidly. In the last few nights I have the pain back which wakes me up every 2 hours.
When I had my last injection I spoke to the surgeon and he said he could put me on the surgery list for December.
Is this still possible as I would like to be on the list for mid December.
Thank you so much.
I hope you are well
Mario
We can certainly put you on the list but the exact timing of surgery will be a bit unpredictable because of the way the hospital is handling the backlog of cases from COVID. Essentially we have quite a bit of availability for CTS but the hospital seems to be using some of the theatre space for other things. I could also get the operation done on a GP surgery operating list in Ashford, which would be more predictable. JB
Ok sounds good. Only said because the surgeon said to me its not a problem mid December.
It would be nice if it would be the same surgeon who done my right hand.
Thank you
Regards Mario
I'm not sure who did your right hand. I think Nick is trying to arrange something but the administrators are making things a bit complicated at present. JB
2 month after my latest injection in my left hand and the pain is now unbearable. Its ok during the day, but at night its a different story. 45min sleep then the pain wakes me up. I feel totally knackered.
If I can't get my surgery due to the pandemic, is there a chance for one more injection???
Thank you
Mario
It's pushing the limits of the total quantity of steroids I'm happy giving in a year but yes we probably could give one more as long as it did show a good response at least briefly to the previous one. I think it would be a good idea to do it on a Thursday when we can have a word with Nick about the surgical waiting list situation. JB
Thank you. I am working abroad all week, so a weeks notice would be good. Thank you so much for your help.
Mario
Hi Dr. Bland.
I dont really understand your previous text.
Am I just turning up on a Thursday or will you send me an appointment?
Regards Mario
We will need to choose a specific Thursday but we've pretty much caught up with the COVID backlog at present so any Thursday will do as long as Nick is not on annual leave. I think this coming one (26th November) should be OK if you want to come in aout 9:00 am. JB
I am in Belgium the whole week, working.
Is next Thursday the 3rd of December ok?
Its about my work and difficult to come back during the week, but next week I can work in england and make things easier
Mario
I think Nick is on leave on 3rd December though we can still inject. Just harder to get an idea what is going on with surgery. I spoke to him today and he thought you might have had a date by now. JB
Ok. Thank you.
No date for surgery or letter yet.
But I will see you next Thursday the 3rd.
9am?
Mario
8:30 - traffic permitting. I hope everyone isn't going to rush out onto the roads the day after the official end of lockdown 2 but you never know! JB
Ha. I hope not. I will be there at 8.30.
Thank you ever so much Dr.Bland
Just an update after surgery in December.
I am very happy and pain free in both hands.
2 weeks after surgery i went back to work and things are fine. Just wanted to say thank you for all your help in the last 4 years.
Dr.Bland you and your team are amazing
Thank you
Mario
I'm very pleased that you have made such a speedy recovery and that you are now symptom free. It is most rewarding as the operating clinician to hear that the treatment has had the desired effect. Good luck for the future.
Nick
Nick. Fab Job. Treating my right hand with neutrogena gel creme as you know I showed some skin problems from 2019 surgery. Left hand has healed brilliant. Cant thank you enough. Stay safe Regards Mario
hello Dr. Bland.
I hope you are well.
It has been 6 month when I had my last injection in my left wrist. The pain is back, sleepless nights and pain are back. I wonder if I could get an appointment for an injection again. I would rather have surgery, but I guess the waiting list is rather long at the moment.
Could you help me out please?
Regards Mario
